Passo Gobbera – Monte Totoga
From Passo Gobbera (985 m) go towards the Church and take the road on the right that climbs upwards, path nr.345 Mount Totoga. A little further on follow the military road with a gentle incline, in the shade of the wood. Follow the signs and take a mule track on the right which climbs steeply until reaching the southern ridge of Totoga.
The path turns to the right now and following the old military road arrives at the forest refuge San Giovanni Gualberto (1.570 m), closed but with emergency rooms always open. A few steps from the refuge follow the old military road to reach the "stoli": Italian artillery posts built on two floors in 1915. The galleries are in excellent condition and merit a visit (a torch is useful). Peeping out the large windows (carefully), you can admire the splendid scenery over the entire Valle del Vanoi.
Leaving the “stoli" in the direction of the refuge; climb up the path on the left of the wood (discreetly signposted) which in 35 minutes brings you to the top of Mount Totoga (1.705 m).
The panorama is exceptional and sweeps from the Passo Brocon to the Pale di San Martino, to end over the entire valley with its villages below.
The return is made along the same route as the climb.
