San Martino di Castrozza – Passo Rolle for Malga Ces – Val Bonetta and the Lakes of Colbricon
From San Martino di Castrozza (1.400 m) take the via Cavallazza and follow it into the woods as far as Malga Ces (1.670 m). Malga Ces can also be reached by car.
From Malga Ces the climb begins in the woods and then through pastures (path nr. 348) along the Val Bonetta which rises again as far as Cavallazza, where the path steepens, to finally reach the Rifugio Colbricon (1.927 m), open during the summer period.
The smallest of the lakes of Colbricon is found at 1.909 m, whilst the largest is situated at 1.922 m. On the banks of the lakes some important Mesolithic finds have been made, viewable in the History Museum of Trento.
Take the path nr.14 - 348 which after about 2 km will take you to Malga Rolle (1.910 m). From here briefly follow the public road 50 to reach Passo Rolle (1.980 m).
On your return you can take the same route by foot or can use public transport or the shuttle bus which connects Passo Rolle to San Martino di Castrozza.
This route is also practicable by mountain bike.
